The Dicle Bridge, also called the Silvani Bridge or the Pira Dehderî Bridge, is located in Diyarbakir -- the largest city in the Turkish Kurdistan region. 

 

This amazing and historic landmark crosses the Tigris River with a stunning 10-arch design. The inscription states the bridge was built by the architect Sancaroğlu Ubeydoğlu Yusuf in 1065 AD. Built of basalt stone, its sturdy workmanship have held to the test of time for foot traffic, but cars are no longer permitted by law of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.[i]

Automobile traffic is no longer permitted to ensure longevity of the bridge's regionally renowned beauty. To access by foot, follow the old Mardin Road about 1.5 miles south of the Mardin Gate.bb
