History

Meryemana is said to have been discovered via the spiritual dream of a German nun in which God disclosed the location of the home. The nun, named Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, never left Germany but was able to accurately describe the details of a home on a hill in Ephesus. The details of her dream were published by a poet in 1824, from which later a French priest went to Turkey in 1881 in search of the site.He did find the home we now call Meryemana but was unable to prove its historical authenticity.Local Orthodox believes the claim that Mary spent the last 9 years of her life in Ephesus.
