Minara Park is located off of Halabja Street opposite the Central Bank of the Region in downtown Erbil, directly across from Shanidar Park.

"Minara" means "lighthouse," so the park was named after the archaeological lighthouse located at the corner of the public grounds. The attractively designed park contains an outdoor theater for 5,000 spectators, a cafeteria, and many benches for resting and enjoying the scenery. Visitors can also ride the cable car gondola that connects to the nearby Shanidar Park.[i] A tethered hot-air balloon was added to the park's list of attractions in 2014, offering residents and tourists amazing aerial views of Erbil.[ii]
