Munzur Valley is a scenic national park area near the town of Tunceli (aka Dersim) in southeastern Turkey.

 

Munzur Valley National Park was established in 1971 and sprawls over 42,000 hectares of land, including the Munzur and Mercan rivers. A huge variety of natural terrain exists in the park, including crater lakes, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and fountains. At least 1518 plant species are found in the Munzur Valley National Park, many endemic to the area. Many wildlife also called this place their home -- foxes, wolves, goats, bears, squirrels, various fish, badgers, and rams can all be found here.[i]

Munzur Valley can be accessed just 8km away from the city of Tunceli via the north route of Tunceli-Ovacik road. A car or bicycle is best to reach this destination, depending on traveling preference. Upon arrival in the park, hiking is recommended with appropriate provisions and clothing. Camping is permitted, as is kayaking and rafting.
