Sami Abdul-Rahman Park is located on the west side of Erbil, alongside Sixty Meter Street and exactly opposite of the Parliament and Council of Ministers buildings.

Sami Abdul-Rahman Park is the largest park in Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It contains many gardens and two ponds, the Erbil International Fair Ground, Zaytun Public Library, theaters, several statues and monuments, a summer movie theater, children's entertainment, and restaurants.[i]

Prior to 1991, the space where Sami Abdul-Rahman Park resides was a military compound of the Iraqi government. Upon completion of the public park and grounds, the space was commonly frequented by Sami Abdul-Rahman, a Kurdish political leader. He was killed during a terrorist attack during the Qurban Cejin feast in 2004, and the park was named to honor his lifetime of achievements.[ii]
