Halgurd Mountain is located 170km northeast of Erbil. Some of the nearby villages include Galala, Haji Omaran, Roost, and Sidakan.
Halgurd Mountain is 3607m above sea level, making it the tallest peak in Iraq. The summit is covered with snow year-round. As part of the Halgurd-Sakaran National Park, there are many native plants (including special medicinal herbs) and animals in the wild.[i]
